Project
- Set-up and operate equipment involved in the manufacturing of extrusion dies and related components.
- Operators have responsibility for use of all safety equipment, observing and following all safety procedures, rules, regulations, and maintaining a clean work area.
Tasks
- Some of the equipment involved, but not limited to, precision grinding equipment, atmosphere furnaces, plasma spray, manual brazing, and welding equipment. Inspection equipment involved, but not limited to, include indicators, micrometers, depth micrometers, Vernier calipers, and gauge blocks.
- Follow department procedures and schedules, install tooling and machine fixtures, select speeds, feeds, machine sequence, and make all necessary machine adjustments. Operators are responsible for obtaining quality specifications during set-ups and approving set-ups for other machine operators. Work from assembly drawings, product or tooling drawings, schedules, route sheets, specifications and samples. Identify and report all drawing errors to the supervisor. Operators must have basic understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Investigate malfunctions of equipment, make all necessary adjustments as required and or replace standard defective components. Perform daily preventative maintenance of equipment checking, oil, lubrication, fluids and coolant levels as required. Notify supervisor regarding need for maintenance repair and unresolved difficulties with parts, tooling, and prints. Perform any manner of operations within the department as required or determined by the supervisor and or current workload.
- All of the above should be accomplished with little or no supervision.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience required in all operations listed above.
