Area Manager - SMP

WYN is offering an exciting new Area Manager role working on site in WA on a $multi-billion mining project owner side in design & construct phase. This opportunity offers long term contract with ongoing career progression on landmark projects. 


As part of the increased activity in the Western Australian market WYN Recruitment is now looking for an Area Manager to form part of the senior project team on this large Iron Ore project for a well-known, global owner operator company. This role will ensure the delivery of the construction phase in accordance to the package’s construction schedule and budget. This is a management position with responsibility of a large construction team and will be responsible for the successful delivery of the mine’s vast materials handling equipment.


The main duties will include (but not be limited to):

• Ensuring that safety in the workplace is primary focus for the entire team. 
• Managing aspects of the construction schedule through related project controls. 
• Preparing monthly forecasts and schedules. 
• Managing cost related forecasting and analysis. 
• Ensuring all quality and environmental standards are met 
• Liaising with clients and senior internal management to develop and foster cooperative relationships. 
• The recruiting, retaining and subsequent management of a large construction crew.

As an ideal candidate you will need:

• An excellent track records n safety 
• A minimum of 10 years heavy construction experience in a senior role. 
• A proven track record of delivering $100+ million projects. 
• A background in Structural, Mechanical and Piping work. 
• Excellent commercial and cost control experience. 
• Excellent communication and relationship development skills. 
• A proven track record of managing a large construction crew on a day-to-day basis. 
• Excellent time management and organization skills. 
• A high level of computer literacy.
