Superintendent: Mine Development

A vacancy exists for a Superintendent: Mine Development on a Mine in KZN.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc Geology / Mining Engineering with 5 - 8 yrs post-graduate technical services or mine designing or mineral resource management experience.
  • Extensive project management would be an advantage
  • Pr.Sci.Nat./JORC accredited (is an advantage)
  • Driver's Licence: EB

  • Data analysis and trend reporting
  • Presentation and project management skills.

Job Specification

Job Objectives:

  • Manage the planning and coordinating of mining-related projects and ensure availability of resources
  • Ensure that the required audit processes are completed, recommendations collated and approval obtained before closing off a project
  • Ensure continuous research of new technology and methods and keep abreast of the latest developments in the field
  • Monitor adherence to ore body utilisation plans and evaluate deviations and trade-offs within the mining process.
  • Evaluate and advance alternative mining techniques (against established dredging techniques) for possible use in non-operating lease areas, projects and non-dredgable ore reserves in conjunction with active mineral leases
  • Develop business cases for alternative mining methods and apply for capital as required
  • Ensure that data is collected and analysed and that all projects come to fruition, and that new projects are identified and initiated on a continuous basis.
  • Maintains and improves safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
  • Performs fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the supervisor .
