Senior Design Engineer (Civil)

Job Description

• Perform general Civil Engineering and design activities including site preparation, grading, drainage, erosion control, roadways and paving for new power generation projects. Perform storm drainage hydrology and hydraulic calculations for the design of swales, ditches, culverts, settling and storage ponds, pipe flow for raw water, potable water, fire water and sewage systems. Review and update civil construction specifications and design criteria. Prepare engineering work-hour estimates and civil bulk quantity estimates for proposal. Responsible for assessing manpower staffing needs, delegating tasks to designers, attending project meetings, and representing the civil discipline on project assignments. Actively participate in [Company]  Knowledge Community and other available resources. Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and department goals.

Basic Job Requirements

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with 12 years minimum civil design experience in power or related industry. PE license required. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 3D Civil software. Ability to prepare and present technical presentations related to civil design. Exhibit thorough understanding of pertinent codes and governing regulations related to land development. Ability to plan, organize, and schedule assigned tasks. Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, management, and other team members. Ability to set and meet aggressive targets. Ability to direct work of other engineers and designers.
