Lead/Senior Controls Engineer-Power

Description and Desired Qualifications

  • Lead I&C engineer for large EPC power projects responsible for design of entire plant control system including DCS, instruments, and control logic.
  • Manage and lead other staff engineers during execution of projects.
  • Develop and update project schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare design and cost estimates for the instrument and controls group.
  • Create control narratives, logic diagrams, I/O lists, instrument datasheets, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Support the development of P&IDs and associated control logic.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and construction personnel.
  • Perform project site visits with construction personnel and clients.
  • Review technical information for accuracy and contractual requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Computer, or Electrical engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
  • PE Registration is required
  • 15 years of engineering experience pertaining to the instrumentation and controls of power plants.
  • 10 years of EPC experience with some field and commissioning experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of power plant processes, especially combined-cycle, simple cycle, and coal plants.
  • First-hand experience in specifying, developing, and testing DCS and PLC systems.
  • Ability to create and check logic diagrams as they pertain to power plant systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and lead project groups. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • High level of proficiency in Power Plant design.
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design platforms and their use on projects.
  • Knowledge with ISA symbols and format as related to P&ID development.
  • Capable of preparing ISA formatted instrument data sheets.
  • Capable of developing project logic drawings and or system control narratives
