Mining Manager

 Our client, a leading contractor in the resource and infrastructure sectors of Australia is looking for an experienced Mine Manager to join their team.

Reporting directly to the Project Director you will be accountable for ensuring that the mining program is successfully completed within budget, on time and in accordance with contract and company requirements by providing direct leadership, management, commercial and contractual support to the project mining team.


Key responsibilities include:

• Ensure that the project performance is claimed promptly in accordance with procedures and that the claims / variation process and that it recovers all entitlements.
• Ensure that the progress of the mining project is accurately recorded and reported.
• Review on an ongoing basis the mining projects performance against tendered performance.
• Analyse the mining project performance and implement improvement initiatives against measureable KPI's.
• Liaise and train mining personnel in the proficient use of applicable mining software and systems.
• Participate in the mining project progress meetings to ensure performance targets are understood and delivered.\Ensure that major and critical suppliers are closely monitored.
• Ensure the approval of capital expenditure for any new plant or equipment that may be required for the project follows protocols and procedures.
• Ensure sufficient project controls are in place to accurately monitor project performance against project and program time lines.
• Provide specific engineering support for the mining project to target continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with the preparation of the project program and budget.
• Assist with the preparation of the mining project forecasts.
• Review the mining project monthly performance and implement production improvement strategies in conjunction with the mining team.
• Review the project mining performance and recommend initiatives to deliver best practise and incorporation of leading edge technology.
• Review purchase requisitions, plant hire agreements and subcontract agreements to ensure conformance with procedures and levels of authority.
• Represent the company for all activities associated with the project.

The successful candidate must have the following:  

• Tertiary degree mining discipline.
• Thorough working knowledge of financial, budgeting and costing systems.
• Working knowledge of estimating practice and conventions.
• Experience in quality, safety, environmental, personnel, commercial and contract management.
• Extensive experience in project management of mining projects.

You will be able to work in a dynamic work environment, with the ability to make decisions based upon multiple input sources. You will have great verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and management skills and the ability to work in a small team.
