Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety Professional

Position Description

• [Company] produces a wide range of aluminum parts that are milled, sheared, annealed, heat treated, rolled, stretched, sawed, machined, packed, warehoused, and shipped out of the Davenport facility and/or local vendors. A wide range of equipment is used to make these products.
• The Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Professional manages the EHS systems for his/her assigned area of responsibility. He/she will play a key leadership role in reducing risk of incident and injury and drive implementation of Human Performance systems. He/she leads the EHS training coordination and implementation for hourly and salaried employees, performs internal self-assessment activities (ASATs), monitors, tracks, and reports key EHS metrics, and ensures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate regulatory programs. This position leads plant wide projects and will have regular exposure to plant-wide leadership (both company and union).
• The successful candidate will lead incident investigations to ensure completeness and accuracy, develop and track corrective actions, act as a change agent for the area, lead multi-disciplinary teams to make process improvements and reduce risk of injury, incorporate [Company] (ABS - lean manufacturing) across the plant or departments' material flow paths, have a high level understanding of manufacturing process, participate hands-on in leading ABS activities through A3s, TPM, Kaizen, or problem solving methodology, work with data and analysis tools to identify potential issues, determine root causes of problem areas, generate potential action plans and monitor progress in significant and critical areas, as well as track continuous improvements.
• The Senior EHS Professional works closely with location manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and support staff personnel to develop and deploy a wide-range of comprehensive EHS systems that support [Company]  commitment of zero non-compliances and zero injuries. She/he must also be able to assess training effectiveness and employee competence.
• The successful Senior EHS Professional will help to utilize fully the diverse workforce at [Company] and will allow each individual equal opportunity to realize his/her full potential. The Senior EHS Professional is responsible for the professional development of Safety Representatives and Human Performance Advocates from their respected areas.
• Although a Senior EHS Professional works primarily daytime shifts Monday through Friday, it is expected they work off-shifts as needed to support the functions of this role and are on call as first line help chain 24 hrs per day, seven days per week.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or Sciences, Engineering or related Field
• Minimum of (6) years of environmental, health and safety experience
• Preferred Qualifications Professional safety and/or health certifications (CSP, CIH, ASP) strongly desired.
• Experience in a heavy manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Experience working in a union environment preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in program development, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, Human Performance and driving continuous improvement.
