Senior Electrical Designer

  • Senior Electrical Designer Reporting To: 
  • Lead Electrical Designer Location: Perth, Western Australia 
Role
This position provides a senior level of technical support and some supervision in relation to electrical design drafting services for engineering projects including civil, structural, mining, geotechnical, mechanical, piping, process, electrical and instrumentation engineering.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement 
  • Contribute to electrical design reviews 
  • Ensure all electrical design drawings for engineering project work comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices 
  • Liaise with engineers to establish design criteria and ensuring project goals are met; 
  • Ensure electrical design drawings for engineering projects are completed on time and within budget 
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs drawings for engineering projects and ensure project work complies with conditions and parameters set out in project scope of works 
  • Provide direction to subordinate designers as required 
Required Competencies / Skills
  • Understanding of and ability to follow Company policies and procedures 
  • Ability to adhere to corporate/project drawing office standards 
  • Ability to arrange/prepare drawings based on engineering design inputs 
  • Knowledge of drafting requirements for multiple disciplines 
  • Understanding EPCM culture and goals 
  • Ability to achieve targets and assigned outcomes 
  • Proven knowledge of capabilities of the various CAD systems 
  • Ability to organise and establish priorities 
  • Ability to negotiate and achieve favourable outcomes 
  • Ability to impart skills/knowledge to others 
  • Ability to mentor to subordinate designer 
Qualifications
Designer/Drafting qualification/diploma, CAD certification or skills Desirable: Experience on an EPCM Experience (Indicative only): Usually > 5 years’ experience in design for engineering projects.
