Description and Desired Qualifications

  • The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals provided while in Prudhoe Bay.

Position Summary:

  • Responsible for routine maintenance, repairs, modifications and replacement of systems, including hardware, environmental systems, utility systems and structures for commercial buildings and camps
  • May procure parts and materials to support these functions through the computerized material and job order systems
  • Isolates and identifies maintenance problems requiring work by specific craft journeyman
  • May also perform janitorial duties as required. Additional duties as assigned

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be able to follow all company, client, safety and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed
  • Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical work Use computerized ordering system to purchase parts and supplies
  • Repair and/or replace plumbing fixtures, piping, small appliances (washers and dryers), janitorial equipment, exercise equipment and envirovac systems Perform minor mechanical, carpentry and basic electrical work applications (ballasts, switches, receptacles, etc)
  • Analyze, diagnose and repair items identified above, plus kitchen equipment, steam boilers and injectors
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and performs complete rebuilding of washers and dryers
  • Access the organization job order system and create job orders
  • Attend safety meetings and training sessions required by organization

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Demonstrate strong plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and appliance repair/replace abilities
  • Knowledge of and proficient in carpentry, painting, mechanics, electrical/controls and pipefitting/plumbing crafts
  • Able to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Ability to maintain maintenance records
  • Ability to operate computers and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Office, Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively with fellow workers and demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures

  • Lift 60 lbs from floor to knuckles x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 60 lbs from floor to waist x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to shoulders x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Carry 60 lbs with two hands for a distance of 15 ft x 2 repetitions; allow a 60 second rest break between carry tests, i.e. after 15 feet
  • Climb stairs: Walk up and down 15 steps x 4 for a total of 60 steps; self-paced, continuous
  • Slanted Ladder: Climb up and down 17 rungs x 10 for a total of 170 rungs; self-paced; allow a 60 second rest break after climbing up and down 34 rungs
  • Repetitive Stoop Test: Perform from standing position, bend forward at waist as far as possible without bending the knees with hands reaching toward the floor x 5, self-paced, but continuous
  • Repetitive Kneel Test: Perform from standing, kneel on one knee, alternate from left to right knee, x 10 each knee
  • Repetitive. Squat Test: Perform a functional squat and stand x 10
  • Twist and Flex Test: Perform from standing alternate toe touches x 10 to each side to assess ability to twist and flex the trunk repetitively

Basic Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by [Company] auto insurer

  • Four (4) years’ experience in building maintenance in an industrial, commercial or other relavent environment
