Job Description

  • Under Working Supervision, operating under detailed instructions and review, by Management of Fluor or its subsidiaries (indicated as “the Company”), the purpose of this position is to provide the essential technical knowledge for the job functions listed below with the objective of ensuring Fluor's  competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value.

Primary Job Duties/Functions:

  • Prepares 2D Computer Aided Design drawings of advanced complexity
  • Prepares layouts for conceptual and detailed designs of advanced complexity
  • Checks work done by other Designers
  • Provides close interface with, and promotes the understanding of, other discipline functions
  • Conducts reviews of model using 3D Review platform and creates 3D models of advanced complexity
  • Reviews drawings, and vendor equipment documentation of advanced complexity from both within the discipline as well as from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements and actively seeks resolution
  • Reviews fabricator drawings
  • Applies project drawing standards to design drawings
  • Performs bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations
  • Participates in people development through mentoring of less experienced Designers
  • Utilizes SmartPlant review (SPR) 3-D tool for checking the model and validating instrument installations
  • Adheres to schedules, scope definitions and project contract information
  • Other related duties/functions as assigned

Working Conditions:

  • Generally favorable indoor office workspace

Basic Job Requirements

  • 15 years of related E&C industry experience using strong design, checking, SPI, SPR & Autocad.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent preferred
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets
  • Autocad, Microstation, and SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) for the Instrument Index and Wiring Module, are required.
