Continuous Improvement Specialist

Brief Description

  • The Continuous Improvement Specialist will lead efforts to improve business processes and results through the facilitation of improvement teams and events and utilization of Continuous Improvement methodology, tools, and techniques.

Detailed Description

  • Facilitate (Plan, Execute, and Follow-Up) continuous improvement events, utilizing Continuous Improvement/Lean methodology, techniques, and tools, including:
  • PDCA and DMAIC (Six Sigma) problem solving methodology
  • 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Error Proofing, Visual Management, Workplace Arrangement, Kaizen, FMEA, Theory of Constraints
  • Assist department, entity and global management in the identification of process and product improvement opportunities
  • Train, coach and mentor employees in the application of Continuous Improvement methodology, techniques, and tools
  • Assist in the development of Continuous Improvement/Lean training materials
  • Assist in the development and utilization of metrics for the evaluation of local organizational performance

Job Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of Continuous Improvement experience is highly desired.
  • Certification in Six Sigma (as a Black Belt) is highly preferred.  Other training/certification in Lean/Continuous Improvement is suitable.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing and business support processes.
  • Strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office products, process mapping software, verbal and written communication
  • Must be able to lead, influence, and build positive relationships with others.
  • Must have the ability to analyze data/information to make sound, objective conclusions, facilitate relatively small groups (typically less than 20), creatively solve problems and implement solutions in a highly-matrixed organization
  • A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, science or business discipline is required.
