Leading Hand – Drill & Blast

One of Australia’s premier Owner Operator companies requires a Drill & Blast Engineer; this role is open to a permanent position with relocation or a contract role on a FIFO roster 


Our client one of the fastest growing mining companies in the world has an urgent demand for a Drill and Blast Engineer to play a lead role in the current stage of this $multi-billion dollar project. 


Your role as a Drill and Blast engineer will provide support to the project works by providing technical expertise and competence in blasting techniques to the Mine and Quarry Management. Extensive Australian mining experience is essential. The right candidate for these roles will also have a demonstrated track record of:

  • Providing designs to ensure iron ore can be blasted in the safest, most cost effective and efficient manner 
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory explosives magazine requirements 
  • Being able to approach project tasks analytically and logically 
  • Excellent communications skills especially when dealing with peers and senior management 
  • Analyse, identify and put forward mine design issues 
  • Assist in developing procedures and systems for the short term planning team function 
  • Understanding and aligning HSE regulations and standards 
  • Understanding equipment application

These roles offer an excellent opportunity for long term career development. As an ideal candidate you will possess:

  • Drill and Blast Engineering experience (Hard Rock) 
  • Tertiary Mining Engineering qualifications 
  • Minimum 5 years experience 
  • A high level of strategic thinking, planning and problem solving ability 
  • Ability to assess project risks and understand associated contingencies 
  • Strong organizational skills
