Fire Protection Engineering Technician/Designer
Description and Desired Qualifications
- Our Fire Protection Engineering Technician/Designer jobs provide you with an opportunity to work on state of the art industrial manufacturing facilities that include microelectronics, data centers, heavy industrial, research & development, and general manufacturing. Each day you will perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering and fire protection principals. You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual that has a minimum of 5+ years of Fire Sprinkler Design experience, microelectronics project experience a plus, and has the desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each new project.
Our Fire Protection Engineering Technician/Designers
- Work on large scale projects such as data centers, semiconductor and nanotechnology manufacturing, high-rise buildings, hospitals, aircraft hangars, and warehouses.
- Analyze and design of intricate fire suppression systems including fire pumps, wet, foam, pre-action and dry systems, ESFR systems, storage and rack Systems, standpipe systems, etc.
- Perform BIM modeling, working in 3D environments, coordinating with 3D models produced by other trades or software and demonstrate the ability to clash and resolve.
- Design Fire Protection in 3D – Construction of 3D models and details used for shop drawings.
- Perform hydraulic calculations – Fine tuning systems for efficiency and troubleshooting.
- Work on design-build projects.
- Work under tight deadlines and maintain individual schedules and completion dates.
- Possess strong working knowledge of NFPA13, NPA14, NFPA20, and a comfortable knowledge of other various NFPA codes.
- Execute tasks within budget and scope.
- Assist in the development of junior personnel.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
- Follow direction and to collaborate with other team members.

Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the design of Fire Sprinkler Systems.
- Must have AutoCAD experience.
- 3D modeling experience.
- Hydraulic Calculation software, such as HASS, HydraCAD, or AutoSprink.
- NICET Level III certification, including thorough knowledge of codes related to design of industrial facilities and system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the design of plumbing, fire protection systems or HVAC systems for Industrial applications is desired.
- Microstation experience is desired.
- 3D modeling experience is also desired utilizing AutoCAD MEP, REVIT MEP
- 10 years industrial plumbing/piping design experience with 5 years minimum experience in Fire Protection Design. Previous experience in Fire Protection installation is desired, but not required. AutoCAD, Revit, & Navisworks (preferred,) and a strong aptitude for new design programs.
- Bachelors or 4 year technical degree
