We are seeking a qualified Procurement Manager at our Regina, SK facility; this position is responsible for the procurement of ferrous scrap and scrap substitutes. Reporting to the Senior Manager Scrap Procurement & Business Development with dotted line responsibilities to local Senior Management, the candidate will also coordinate activities with other personnel including; Transportation, Operations, Corporate, and Finance departments.
This role continually investigates new sources of scrap and develops relationships leading to the procurement of all grades required to the steel mill. The incumbent must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business, possess strong negotiating, communication, and problem-solving skills. They must be knowledgeable of all costs associated with the purchase of ferrous materials as well as the current market to provide optimum total cost strategies. They will be responsible for market research and forecasting duties to coordinate the development of short and long-term purchasing strategies.
Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the metal manufacturing environment. Preference will be given to BA/BS degree in Business Administration or related degree as well as a combination of experience/education. The candidate must also have the ability to function both effectively and independently as a member of a cross-functional team and will demonstrate teamwork and communication skills with a commitment to cooperation and collaboration among business functions and other EINA facilities. They will be proficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word as well as Scrap Management software. Candidate will have strong oral and written skills, good statistical analysis skills, will be market research orientated, and demonstrate strong knowledge of the scrap recycling industry.
Off site travel will be required, meeting in person with current and potential suppliers to establish and maintain effective market relationships. Responsibilities include settlement of discrepancies within management guidelines, maintaining quality standards, and coordinating ongoing supply chain activities.
