Senior Mine Planner/ Production Improvement Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Senior Mine Planner/ Production Improvement Engineer to take a key leadership role in one of their of their key mining operations in the Northern Ontario.
The Senior Mine Planner/Production Improvement Engineer will support all areas of the facility in implementing, sustaining and improving processes within the mining plant. Key responsibilities will include leading continuous improvement initiatives around safety, quality, efficiency, time and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and executive mine related capital projects within project key performance indicators such as: safety, quality, efficiency, time and quality
- Lead continuous improvement efforts by planning, leading and facilitating continuous improvement activities regarding production, process and safety
- Monitor, manage and report on yields in specific areas of the mining plant
- Formulate accurate estimates, budgets and timeline with regular monitoring, cost control and reporting on progress
- Project planning, scheduling, risk analysis and reporting
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislative requirements on projects
- Build relationships across all levels to understand ongoing operational issues and lead improvement and sustainability efforts
- Collect, organize, and analyze data to identify systemic improvement opportunities
- Provide strategic direction and input into improving key processes within the facility.
- Track and develop periodic summary reports on progress against goals.
- Perform business assessments and make operational recommendations to other functional areas.
- Work with Engineering and Mine Maintenance, Safety and Process division to transfer new processes into production
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, P.Eng preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience working within the mining sector in a strategic planning capacity
- Proven experience leading Continuous Improvement programs
- Excellent expertise with regards to Project Cost Control, Risk Analysis and Project Management
- Exposure to six sigma methodologies is an asset
- PMP – Project Management Professional designation is an asset
- Ability to work in partnership with various department heads and stakeholders including: engineering, processing, mine maintenance and mine safety
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to operate in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with excellent follow-up and sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems; proven track record of achieving results and perseverance.
