Geologist Superintendent

A heavy mineral sands operation situated in Northern Mozambique seeks to appoint a Geologist Superintendent. Single status (Fly in - Fly out rotation.).The principal function of the role is to lead the geology team in accurately sampling and modelling reserves and resources and to supply geotechnical, hydrogeological and mineralogical services to the operation.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements:

• A degree in Geology
• 10 years’ geological experience, with preferably 5 years in mineral sands deposits. Dredge Mining experience is also desirable
• Experience in drilling supervision and database management
• Knowledge of QA/QC techniques for drilling data
• Good knowledge of geology modelling soft ware, especially block modelling
• Excellent communication skills.

Job Specification

• The role would suit a geologist with mineral sands mining experience and a desire to push their own boundaries in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Regularly produce updated geological block models for use in mine planning
• Annually report reserves and resources and update the associated Competent Person’sReport
• Reconcile monthly the geological model and production
• Be accountable for the completion of a detailed drilling programme covering ore from the 3-year mine plan
• Provide geotechnical, hydrogeological and mineralogical services to the production teams
• Plan exploration activities on exploration licenses and ensure completion of annual work reports
• Ensure compliance with the company’s HSEC policies and procedures.
