Senior Process Engineer | Metallurgist

A heavy mineral sands operation situated in Northern Mozambique seeks to appoint a Senior Process Engineer | Metallurgist. Single status (Fly in - Fly out rotation).

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy,
• 10 year’s experience in Mineral Sands as a senior production and technical Engineer in operations and engineering environment.
• Commissioning of a Mineral Separation Plant
• Process design and Engineering, and project management
• Technical management / Management of technical team

Job Specification

• To ensure the process plant operates at its optimum efficiency at all times within budget, provide technical support to the operations team and ensure the plant continuously improves by applying a high level of business and technical skills, metallurgical accounting skills and computer skills to maximise value of the business.  
• Carries out development / expansion projects in line with the company`s long term objectives. 
• Assists in achieving the company`s short and long term objectives by adhering to the objectives and vision of the organization. 
• Reports to the Process Manager, Operations and contributes to the overall metallurgical operation of Mineral Sands, as a member of the Mineral Separation Plant.

Key Performance Areas.

• Process Design and Engineering, project management and Implementation.
• New projects costing, planning, researching and implementation
• Optimised recoveries and plant efficiencies.
• Liaise with all stakeholders for optimum plant recoveries.
• Continuous improvement initiatives
• Re-engineering of process flow to optimize mineral recovery
• Training needs identification, design new training initiatives, implementation of programmes, track progress and correct deviations.
• Manage all technical information for metallurgical accounting of plant.
• Continuous improvement of metallurgical accounting to meet day to day operations requirements
• People management
• Plant sampling, auditing and surveys
• Optimisation, measurement, calibration and auditing of plant control  instrumentation
• Statistical analysis of plant data with corrective action plans
• Continuously benchmark the plant with other operations
