Environmental Compliance Specialist

Description and Desired Qualifications

  • Helping our clients keep their facilities and operations safe for their employees and the continued success of their business. Our Environmental Compliance Specialist careers provide you with an opportunity to work on exciting environmental compliance projects onsite to support our commercial clients with their day-to-day environmental management needs.   The work will be across several medias including waste, air, noise and water management. Each day, as a project team member, you will develop skills in the field of environmental regulatory compliance , under the guidance of senior staff and through multiple opportunities to work independently and with peers. You should be a self-motivated professional with one year of experience with environmental compliance activities for federal or industrial clients, have a Bachelors degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering and a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each environmental compliance specialist job.

Our Environmental Compliance Specialists:

  • Develop knowledge and skills in wide variety of multi-media compliance (air quality, water/wastewater, and waste management) issues, projects including: industrial process engineering, wastewater treatment, regulatory compliance, pollution prevention, and air pollution compliance consulting services to industrial clients
  • Experience with RCRA compliance, including waste characterization, operating facility waste management, generator status evaluations and audits
  • Travel to client locations to perform data collection; assist with preparing EMS and general compliance documents as well as develop, coordinate, and facilitate training courses and various meetings along with field studies and permitting of industrial facilities
  • Have excellent organization skills and are able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and under deadline pressure
  • Detail-oriented, able to follow instructions and to communicate with staff to understand assignments or seek clarification as necessary Have knowledge of chemistry and analytical methods, and environmental data management
  • Generate complex data queries and analysis using various software programs
  • Work as part of a mentoring process and have assignments reviewed
  • Participate in field activities such as sampling and routine testing
  • Have a strong desire to become a consultant (team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter that takes initiative, adaptable, along with a service mentality)

Additional Information:

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1 B visa, etc.) to fill this position

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Environmental Science, Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • 2-4 years of consulting experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Degree in Environmental Science, Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering
