Senior HSE Advisor/Coordinator

The client/project:

One of the leading Australian based companies providing  blast based services to the mining and quarrying sector has a vacancy for a Safety Advisor/Coordinator to join their Facility near Gladstone.

Due to the continual improvements and expansion on site and the ever increasing demand for these commodities, this client is looking to appoint a Safety Advisor/Coordinator to join a small but established Safety team on site where your role will be diverse and interesting.  

In your daily role you can expect to:
  • Manage key safety programmes and initiatives 
  • Implement and monitor site safety and awareness of the safety programme
  • Ensure incidents are recorded and reported to Senior Management when necessary
  • Update Senior Management regarding audits, and other HS&E activities 
  • Lead risk assessment
  • Form professional and long standing relationships with site staff from management to contractors on site
  • Work with the Safety team to continuously improve site safety
  • Work with line managers to upgrade areas of the plant 
The roster/package:
  • Site based outside Gladstone
  • 5/2 roster 
  • Attractive base salary
  • 20% site uplift
  • Phone and lap top provided
To apply for this position you must meet the following criteria:
  • 7+years experience in Safety in a site based role - predominantly in Australia 
  • A territory qualification in safety
  • Experience in either chemical engineering/petro/chem environment would be beneficial although not essential
  • Experience working on heavy civil/industrial plants/projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build long lasting relationships across all stakeholders on site
  • The ability to influence and persuade others to bring about action and change in relation to safety
  • Already based in Australia
