Position Summary
This is an entry level trainee position for the underground supervisory/management development program. It is assigned to the underground mining operations and provides work directly to the safe operation of mining equipment, maintenance of equipment, and general labor support for all underground operations. The Supervisor Trainee will be trained to supervise day today underground activities and once trained and certified will be responsible for the direct supervision of a mining and support team. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the safe production of coal and the movement of equipment & machinery that support mining operations.
Target Responsibilities
Adopt and practice the "Absolute Zero" approach to safety.
Promptly report all adverse conditions.
Maintain a safe, efficient and clean work site, and hazard free working conditions.
Shadow Experienced Miners, Technicians, Mechanics and Supervisors to understand general underground operations.
Responsible for the safe and efficient production of coal and/or assistance in the production of coal in general work areas assigned to.
Must comply with company, mine and regulatory policies and approved procedures.
Must ensure that body mechanics, equipment, and tools are utilized in a safe and responsible manner.
Must safely, effectively, and efficiently work and respond to changing conditions within the mine.
Supervise a team of underground mining professionals.
Minimum Requirements
Related experience or proven knowledge in mine operations or electrical & mechanical maintenance or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in military or Industrial environment preferred.
Bachelors and/or Associates degree in Engineering, Mechanics, Industrial Technology or related field preferred.
Must prove general mechanical and/or technical aptitude.
Must possess effective verbal communication skills.
Must be 18 years of age.
Must be available to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires.
Must be able to work a shift rotation. Must be able to work safely and effectively as a part of a team.
Must be able to lift, carry, pull/push, climb, shovel, walk, pry and work on/near moving equipment as required by job assignment.
Must possess effective critical thinking and comprehension skills.
