Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • In this position you will be involved with management of geotechnical engineering projects and explorations, which consists of performing boring layouts, clearing utilities, supervising drill rigs, performing geophysical surveys, classifying soils, assigning lab testing, and preparing geotechnical reports. Projects include a wide variety of sites, from residential developments to large industrial facilities, and public sector projects. Additional responsibilities may include assisting senior staff in marketing, preparing proposals, maintaining regular client contacts, managing budgets, proposals and invoices. While this is initially a technically focused position, there will be interaction with clients and candidates should have business development experience. This is a growth oriented position and the potential exists to become the geotechnical department manager within 12 months. Local candidates with established contacts in the greater Columbia, SC area are preferred.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of Geotechnical Engineering or similar experience.
  • BSCE required; MS with a concentration in geotechnical engineering preferred.
  • EIT required.
  • SC PE license desired or ability to achieve within three months from date of hire. GA PE also desired.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Strong geotechnical engineering, project management and business development skills.
