Alternate Underground Mine Manager

This top tier global gold mining house has several operating and exploration sites in and outside of Australia. The company has a complement of over 50,000 staff and contractors worldwide and produces 3.5 million ounces of gold a year as well as a total attributable gold equivalent Mineral Reserves of 76.7 million ounces and Mineral Resources of 225.4 million ounces. One of their operating Australian underground mine sites is currently looking for an experienced Underground Alternate Mine Manager. Reporting to the Mining Manager this senior role is responsible for the effective management of the underground operation on site. The role demands a proactive yet effective approach to people management, business and technical problem solving, while maintaining a positive ‘can-do’ attitude to achieve results ‘on-time’ and within budget.


Your key responsibilities will include planning, managing and monitoring underground mining operations, personnel and business partner activities as well as monitoring the progress of development, stoping and mining projects and activities against monthly targets. You will actively identify and manage all underground risks and develop systems to monitor, manage and audit these as well as ensuring the safe and efficient operation of assets. Additionally you will ensure that all budgeted production targets are achieved and ensure compliance with any statutory requirements, company strategic plans, policies and procedures.


As a senior member of the onsite team, you will be able to demonstrate similar experience as an Alternate Underground Mine Manager or as a Senior Mine Engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience in an underground mining environment. You will have a Bachelor Degree in Mine Engineering or equivilent and be prepared to FIFO or live residential. As the Alternate Underground Mine Manager it is essential that you hold a WA First Class Mine Manager's certificate of Competency or are close to achieving it and have a sound knowledge of relevant statutory obligations.
