Senior Mine Planning Engineer

This respected international organisation with multiple mine sites across Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Mine Planning Engineer to lead a technical team to optimise mine production on their Queensland underground operation.

Reporting into the Technical Services Manager your main duties will revolve around Long Term and Life of Mine (LOM) planning and will include production optimisation, expenditure modelling, strategic input into short and medium term plans and exploration through delineation drilling. Throughout your day to day responsibilities your main point of focus will be on identifying, investigating opportunities and methods for reducing unit production costs and maximising output of high grade ore. In addition to this you will be responsible for monitoring and mentoring a small team of production, drill and blast and geotechnical engineers to ensure the mine targets are met.

To excel in this exciting and multifaceted role you will possess a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering and at least three years experience in underground operations, with two of these spent in a planning role. You will be comfortable with short and medium term planning and have had some exposure to long term planning, with the desire to expand your skills in this area. You will be comfortable with mining software such as Vulcan or Minesight, have a thorough understanding of safety issues and posses strong communication skills.
