Senior Operations Geologist - Sydney

An opportunity is available to join a Sydney based mid-size oil and gas operating company in the role of Senior Operations Geologist. 


The role will offer the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of assets including conventional and unconventional oil and gas working as part of the sub-surface team. 


Responsibilities will include;


  • Management of wellsite geologists and supervising all aspects of formation evaluation planning and execution, from tendering, contracting and subsequent drilling of assets.
  • Extensive use of computers i.e. computer data entry and manipulation, gathering hard copy reports for data extraction, core analysis interpretation database management and preparation of well prognosis and post-drilling reports (WCRs)
  • Monitoring drilling operations and providing geological support to geoscientists and drilling engineers with geological input and interpretation.
  • Assisting drilling engineers with well design and overpressure prediction. 
Suitable candidates will have;
  • Tertiary qualification in geoscience discipline
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of operations geology
  • A good understanding of drilling practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A salary range of $190,000 - $220,000 + Bonus is available for this role depending on skills and experience. Salaries outside of this range may be available for exceptional candidates.
