Application Services Specialist

Position Summary

• [Company] , a leader in materials management and one of the nation's largest multi-line industrial distributors, is searching for an Application Services Specialist for our Canonsburg, PA Headquarters. This position is responsible to ensure the analysis, testing, and development of computer system applications affecting employees at all levels within the company.  This position:  a) ensures that end users can quickly access information within the company's databases in order to perform required activities; b) provides training to end users on systems applications and processes; and,  c) assists in a variety of technical projects such as ERP upgrades, custom modifications, data warehousing, and e-Commerce.

Target Responsibilities

• Assist with the analysis and configuration of application systems and database design to improve workflow processes and ensure end user functionality.  Participate in various information technology projects or teams.
• Assist in developing programs to extract data and create reports as decision support tools for use by all management levels within the company. Development includes researching, analyzing, designing, programming, documenting, and executing.
• Assist with converting systems and migrating data from legacy applications and third-party applications to ERP system and complementary applications.
• Assist in consulting with internal and external customers, suppliers and third-party companies to establish business practices, processes, and workflows that improve business effectiveness and efficiencies.
• Assist with researching, recommending, and implementing complementary hardware and software technologies - bar-coding, wireless communications and optical imaging.
• Assist with training end users on application systems.

Minimum Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of progressively responsible related information systems management or computer science experience and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Programming classes, database design work, and additional classes that connect technology to the business processes may be necessary.
• This position requires travel to perform and receive training.
