Geotechnical Engineer

This leading mining house is one of the largest across Australia with multiple simultaneous projects across Queensland and interstate.  Covering multiple commodities the Coal Division requires an experience Geotechnical Engineer to join the Queensland operations based in central Queensland.
 
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining an accurate and validated geotechnical model for current and planned site operations, provide effective communication of known geotechnical risks / hazards, provide geotechnical advice, fit for purpose and cost effective ground control strategies as well as providing sufficient support to mine plans and schedules.  You will provide critical review controllable risks for mine plan approval, perform all statutory requirements, produce fit for purpose support plans, TARP’s and any other ad-hoc projects as requested.
 
To be successful in this role you will be tertiary qualified coupled with a solid working experience in Geotechnical Engineering from either an underground or open cut operation.  You will have a strong eye for detail with the ability to effectively manage safety and geotechnical hazards on site.  You will have clear communication skills ensuring you effectively liaise with multiple stakeholders whilst maintaining efficient ground control strategies.
