Lead / Principal Mechanical Engineer - Gold Plants

  • Progressive EPCM with a full order book
  • Lead your own projects from initial discussion to site work and erection
  • AutoCAD, Microstation and Solidworks experience required

Lead Mechanical Engineer is needed at a mid-tier EPCM who carries out process, civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation/control design works to the highest standards. The quality of their work has created an excellent reputation for design and project excellence. They are renowned amongst their clients and revered by their competitors for quality, reliability and employee management.

Because of their reputation you must have strong experience as, at least Lead, Principal Mechanical Engineer, preferably with a background in fixed price work for an EPC/EPCM. This is a principal mechanical engineer role that will require you to lead your own team from conception to delivery including site work anderection. It is imperative that you have strong skills and experience, particularly in gold plants and wet areas.

This role will see you
  • Manage client liaison, delivery of projects, and manage project managers and technical leads through the proposal, conceptual and detailed design function,
  • Plan, program and coordinate specific projects to deliver outputs on time, on budget and according to agreed standards
  • Lead the Mechanical team while mentoring and developing the mechanical engineering team (from senior to graduate level)
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with agreed project quality standards
  • Analyse and quantify technical risks and present risk mitigation plans
  • Determine the delegation and management of staff workloads, ensuring procedures are adhered to, and ensuring high quality levels of output are maintained
  • Coordinate with Process Engineers the P&ID from concept to completion of the project design life cycle
  • Accurately interpret PD, PFD and P&ID for greenfield and extensions for detailed mechanical infrastructure design requirements for site and specific project areas

This is not a position to apply for lightly; if you are looking for a chance to work for a highly respected Australian EPCM with an excellent reputation and a superb book of business then you've found the place. Based outside the CDB you'll enjoy working with a progressive management team and an excellent group of Process and Mechanical engineers.

Apart from the strong salary on offer, you'll be working for an EPCM with a real focus on employee happiness, development and progression. Being a mid-tier firm you will be more closely involved in your projects with more freedom than at the bigger firms. This is a great chance to carve out your own niche.
