Principal Mining Engineer (Open Pit)

Stealth Recruitment are currently partnered with an International Engineering Consultancy and are currently pursuing an accomplished Mining Engineer at the management and leadership level. This is a consultancy role entailing the benefits of office base work (home every night) as well as the opportunity to work with a variety of established clients and projects. These elements are coupled with some of the industry's leading salary and benefits packages, corporate culture and career satisfaction.  


Some of your duties would include: 


  • Open Pit/Underground mine planning and engineering studies for a range of commodities for projects in Australia and overseas
  • Audits, reviews and due diligence studies for mining projects
  • Working with other Principal Mining Engineers to make the best use of shared resources and ensuring that an integrated approach to studies is carried out
  • Liaison with clients, including writing of proposals
  • Developing new business opportunities in the area of Open Pit mining
  • Leadership of project teams on consulting assignments
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff
  • Project management, budgeting and quality control for consulting assignments
  • Liaison with specialists from other disciplines and other offices
Skills and Qualifications need to be successful in the role: 
  • Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering
  • Post Graduate Mining and / or MBA Qualification desirable
  • AUSIMM membership, 
  • Registered Professional Engineer 
  • 15 or more years relevant experience 
  • Open Pit/Underground Background
  • Leadership and management skills
  • An aptitude for business development 
  • A passion for the training and mentoring of junior staff
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
