This position is on a Drive in Drive out basis located on Curtis Island near Gladstone on a 21 days on 7 days off roster.

Due to rapid expansion of our Queensland business, ESS Support Services Worldwide, part of Compass Group PLC, currently has a  Head Chef opportunity available within our Mining Village site based within the Gladstone Region


Within this role you will manage a remote village kitchen operation, delivering high quality catering and support services to our client. Your passion for exceptional customer service, genuine commitment to safety and strong people management skills are essential for you to succeed in this role. 


On a daily basis your responsibilities will initially include cooking within an expanding village site,  managing our client relationship and contractual requirements, managing and motivating a dedicated team of kitchen staff, managing  budgets and rosters to meet operational needs and maintaining a safe work environment. This position will require you to think on your feet with the ability to prioritise and delegate to solve issues as they arise. With the rapid expansion of the site, catering for over 2000 people this position will be less hands on and have a full management focus.


We are looking for applicants who:
  • are Chef qualified with large scale bulk cooking experience = 1000+
  • Have proven management experience 
  • Commitment and ability to drive a positive and sustainable safety culture
  • Financial acumen in the areas of budgeting, cost control and monthly reporting
  • First class leadership skills with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility of the kitchens overall performance
  • The ability to drive the customer service policy to yield exceptional customer satisfaction
  • A current manual driver's licence
