Senior Water Resources Field Technician/Engineer

Description

  • HDR Alaska seeks a water resources engineer/scientist with 8+ years of experience to support our water supply development and water management programs. Ground water hydrology experience in the fields of water supply, aquifer recharge, water rights, and contamination is desired. Skills in ground water modeling, GIS, ground water quality, well installation, and aquifer testing are necessary. Strong computational skills, field experience, and a Master’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have complementary experience in surface water hydrology/hydraulics, water quality, and sediment fate and transport. Typical projects include water supply, water management plans, mining, flood control, ecological restoration, stormwater and hydropower.
  • This is a good opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work on a wide range of water resources projects in Alaska and across the Western U.S. Duties will include field work, summarizing background information, analyses, modeling, writing technical reports, and performing various water resources studies. Keyword(s): Water Resources Engineer, storm water systems, hydraulic modeling, HEC-HMS.

Requirements

  • BS required, MS degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in water resources engineering projects is required.
  • PE or CPG preferred.
  • MODFLOW and ground water modeling experience.
  • Surface water hydrology/hydraulics and river restoration HEC-RAS modeling Geomorphology/sediment transport.
  • ArcGIS for Desktop 10.x, including experience with ArcHydro or Spatial Analysis tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent and rapid problem-solving skills in challenging field conditions.
