Position Description
- This role is responsible for providing management and leadership for the implementation of all electrical power and automation systems for the Rolling area. He will support the construction and pre-op phases of this industrial smelter project. Responsibilities require expert knowledge of Reduction electrical systems and potline electrical safety, as well as expert knowledge of pot control systems with emphasis on construction and pre-op related to the project objectives, procedures, budgets and schedules. This individual will be a representative of the project Owner’s team, and will act primarily to oversee and coordinate the efforts of the project EPCM contractor and other vendors across the Reduction area. Beyond construction and pre-op, responsibilities include support of project EHS, engineering, project controls, procurement and hand over to operations to ensure that the objectives and scope of the project are met.

- This position will not be responsible for any direct reports, but will have significant oversight responsibilities with regard to advancing the Owner’s interests with the EPCM contractor and other vendors.
Financial Impact
- Global Primary Products Growth manages all capital projects above $100 million US. Major Greenfield Projects are each > $1 Billion US. Project portfolio will be $5-$10 Billion US on an ongoing basis. Additional Owner’s Costs range from 10-15% of Project costs. This can range > $100 Million US.
Contacts:
- This position has direct and routine contact with counterparts in other Construction disciplines, Engineering, Project Controls, Procurement, C &S group and Plant Operations. Maintains cordial relationships with all Client, Contractor, Vendor representatives and others as necessary.
Essential Job Duties:
- Construction and pre-commissioning responsibilities for the execution of the Reduction Electrical & Automation area.
- Manages and mitigates impacts of schedule for the Reduction power and automation system portions of the project.
- Advises the project team on solutions to power system related issues and contributes to all construction and safety reviews.
- Reviews the content of various construction packages and LSTK work to ensure that all required power system components and related controls of the Reduction area have been considered.
- Identifies and verifies that all installation work, components and power systems meet all required specifications, design criteria and applicable codes and standards.
- Follows the progress of construction constantly monitoring quality and safety to ensure that electrical facilities provided will achieve the project objectives.
- Contributes to the Project Constructability and Operability Reviews.
- Manages impacts of schedule and cost for the Reduction power system portions of the project.
- Verifies that power system work quality and time objectives for the Reduction area are well defined, communicated,
Job Knowledge:
- Works safely and promotes safe attitudes and compliance within Alcoa Safety rules and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of Alcoa organization, policies, procedures and programs.
- Expertise in Potline power systems & construction for large industrial project.
- Knowledge of local requirements and regulations.
- Knowledge of large AC to DC power conversion equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of working arrangements with within large EPCM project
- Oral, written and graphic communication and presentation skills.
Project specific requirements:
- Available to travel and live in Saudi Arabia during the construction period
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in electrical engineering.
Work experience should be 5-7 years of experience in Potline power & automation systems, industrial power distribution, project construction with demonstrated experience relevant to this role.
