We are currently seeking an Senior Automation Technologist (Controls) for our Edmonton office.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Controls design support to multidisciplinary teams on maintenance and expansion projects.
- Basic design/specification and detailed design of Control systems including control narratives, C&E, panel layouts, loop drawings, and P&ID's.
- Proficient in programming DCS and /or PLC systems. Telecommunications experience is an asset.
- Create CWP packages including scope of work and drawings and perform interdisciplinary reviews.
- Able to liaison with Client's during project meetings, HAZOP's, and adhere to Client standards.
- Able to prepare man-hour estimates and capital costs for small to medium size projects.
- Participate in project planning and execution.
- Commission systems on site and perform FAT/SAT's as required.
- Ability to work alone, or lead teams of up to 20 people overseeing quality and able to mentor junior staff.
- Can actively identify scope and manage MOC processes and variances.
Job Requirements:
- The successful candidate will have the following:
- A minimum of 8 years past experience in Controls within an EPC environment and a complete understanding of the engineering documents associated with controls such as: P&ID's, loop sheets, panel layouts, control narratives, logic diagrams, etc.
- Experience in oil/gas, mining, pulp/paper, and thermal power generation is an asset.
- A 2 year diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology is required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Reporting and Location:
This position is located in Edmonton, Alberta.
Position reports to the Automation Department Head.
Other:
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $210,000, depending upon experience
