Purchaser

SMS Equipment Inc. supplies equipment parts and service to the construction, forestry and mining industries and utility product users. It was created to provide customers with integrated solutions and to expand our service capabilities as a nationwide organization.

The Role:

Reporting to the Parts Manager, this position is responsible for the daily activities within the Purchasing function. This position will be responsible for the following:

• Purchasing of equipment, materials, parts and supplies while following established purchasing policies and procedures.
• Optimizing price, delivery and terms in the most timely and cost effective manner.
• Planning, developing and implementing modern purchasing methods and procedures.
• Providing the necessary administrative support related to work performed.
• Identifying and interviewing potential suppliers and issuing requests for quotations.
• Monitoring market trends and conditions.

Qualifications:

• Working towards or holds a CPP designation or Purchasing related education.
• A combination of work experience and education may be considered.
• Position requires a working level knowledge of the purchasing function as it relates to the purchasing of equipment, materials, parts and supplies associated with the Company's activities within the mining industry.
