As one of the leading Recruitment Consultancies in Australia, Ballantyne Recruitment's Telecommunications Division are currently working with companies who are looking for HSE professionals with experience in the telecommunication or mining sectors. These companies work on high value projects, and are on a constant lookout for talented and experienced project managers.

As a Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) engineer, you are responsible for assisting line management to deliver zero injuries and occupational illnesses. The role is for on-going development and implementation of facility strategies / safety compliance and to achieve safety goals set by policy. 

Your duties will include:
  • Identify and advise management at the facility level of accident prevention loss control methods, procedures, and programs. 
  • Advise facility management on safety policies and procedures and fully embed the safety and health standards into the organisational culture. 
  • Review and maintain all incident reports and information including analysis and interpretation of relevant causative factors and manage incident database in relation to Health &Safety functions. 
  • Analyse injury and treatment facts and classify accidents according to established standards and coordinate / communicate with management regarding injury case classification. 
  • Assist area management in conducting investigations of serious accidents or incidents having the potential for serious consequences, facilitate root cause analysis evaluation. 
  • Participate in accident investigation conferences. Review each employee's total accident history and complete an analysis for management review with each employee. 
  • Facilitate federal and state inspections to ensure policy is communicated, define applicable abatement requirements, and audit follow-up on compliance action. 
  • Participate in Company / Union Safety Committee meetings. 
  • Audit contractor compliance, training, and record keeping. 
  • Coordinate the implementation of any Contractor Safety Programs. 
  • Participate in the review and approval of Safety Health and Environmental Action Plans and attend pre-bid and pre-job conferences. 
In order to be successful, you will need:
  • BS Degree in Science, Process Engineering, Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering or a related field (Masters Degree preferred). 
  • 5+ years of practical working experience in the field of Health & Safety / Process Safety Management. 
  • Experience working in fields relating to Chemical, Electrochemistry or Hydrochemistry Engineering. 
  • HSE certification valued but not required. 
  • Knowledge in MSHA & OSHA Regulations.
