Overview:
Our client, a multinational mining company with operations across the globe and one of the world’s largest metals producers, is seeking a Bilingual Human Resources Manager for its offices in downtown Toronto. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Human Resources, you will be responsible for the overall governance and administration of the expatriate employee policies and programs for all mining and project sites, and will act as business partner for the Toronto office and Canada client groups. You will play a key role in the company’s global mobility program, ensuring the consistent and efficient implementation of expatriate processes. You will also work closely with the Director, Corporate Human Resources on a variety of generalist human resources programs and matters, including employee relations, some aspects of recruitment, compensation and performance management.
Key deliverables:
- Manage the company’s global mobility initiatives by providing direction and policy interpretation and support to expatriate employees and human resources team members.
- Maintain the relationship and act as key point of contact for external service providers supporting relocations, tax, immigration and other expatriate consulting services, and work closely with external legal counsel to resolve work permit, visa, and other immigration issues.
- Respond to inquiries from international employees and other internal clients related to the expatriate program.
- Prepare international offer letters and oversee the updating of compensation statements.
- Recommend and implement improvements to policies, programs, and processes based on best practices to ensure competitiveness, cost efficiency and compliance.
- Provide support to the Director, Corporate Human Resources on a wide range of human resources matters as required.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, combined with at least 5 to 8 years experience in Human Resource functions; a professional designation in Human Resources would be an asset.
- Must be fluently bilingual in written and verbal English and French, with the ability to conduct business effectively in either language.
- Familiarity with expatriate employee programs as well as experience working on global teams with international scope is ideal.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of HR tasks, make independent decisions and work successfully with attention to detail and little direction.
- A high-energy, hands-on, approach;, capable of working effectively independently yet collaboratively with confidence; strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
