Project Manager, Mine Remediation

Horizon Recruitment (formerly WPCG Finance & Professional Recruitment) is conducting a search for a Project Manager, Mine Reclamation for a two year term to work in the city of Kimberly BC. Reporting to the Manager of Dormant properties in the Environmental Department, the Project Manager, Mine Reclamation will manage the planning and implementation of remediation projects at various dormant properties within Canada. The Project Manager will develop and obtain project work plan approvals both internally and with government regulators; prepare and manage major projects; oversee contractors to ensure work proceeds safely and in an environmentally sensitive cost effective manner. Project planning and implementation requires being sensitive to First Nations and other affected public concerns, issues and developing positive working relationship with stakeholders. The Project Manager will develop budgets, monitor and forecast costs as well as providing detailed internal and external reports of key project information.

Description:

  • Working with external consultants/contractors, manage the contract work for mine reclamation projects
  • Develop cost estimates and project budgets for various Dormant Properties.
  • Provide project management support for other Dormant Properties as requested.
  • Provide/ensure qualified and effective onsite contract supervision
  • Provide various reports for internal use and external use such as permit or other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Report on work progress including safety and environmental performance, properly documenting work undertaken (as-built drawings, disposal of hazardous materials etc.)
  • Ensure work is conducted in a manner that complies with all regulations and in a manner that the environment is protected.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Technology or Equivalent
  • 10 years’ experience in construction management including direct supervision of heavy construction activities (earth moving, industrial building construction/demolition)
  • Development and managing implementation of contracts
  • Management of multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated successful performance related to health and safety, budget development and control, schedule development and achieving compliance with schedules
  • Proficiency in preparing and presenting project progress and regulatory compliance reports.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements, particularly as they pertain to the mining industry in British Columbia and the Yukon.
  • Effective leader with excellent communication, interpersonal, and people management skills
