Buyer I or II

Overall Job Purpose:

• The procurement of supplies and services for all mine site locals.

Responsibilities Include:

• Negotiate and place individual purchase orders with suppliers of materials and services to best Company advantage considering quality, value analysis, and vendor ability to meet specifications, required delivery, and price
• Review and maintain all insurance & workers comp for service vendors
• Contact suppliers and follow vendor performance to expedite urgently needed items as required
• Continuous upgrade of knowledge obtaining greater familiarity with purchasing practices, policies, and procedures
• Insure proper backup for service invoices and obtain approval signatures from managers

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Minimum of 1 – 5 years of professional experience in Purchasing and Materials Management required
• B.S. in Business or relevant degree preferred, or equivalent experience
• Must be an efficient/effective organizer and team player with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and possess a strong analytical ability
• Candidate must be a self-starter and capable of working independently
• Must be able to plan/handle multiple assignments and work with multiple disciplines and departments across the mine site
• General knowledge of mining equipment, parts, and tools is preferred
• Advanced PC skills and good knowledge of integrated Materials Management and Financial System, Ellipse experience a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills
