Job Description

• [Company] has an opening for a part-time student position in its Safety & Industrial Hygiene organization in the Headquarters Office located in Pittsburgh, PA.
• Candidate must be willing to commit to a minimum of three months of employment.

The student will receive training in the following areas:

• Administration of the [Company] safety and industrial hygiene management system to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility.
• Assisting organizations in improvements in their safety performance including coordination of programs to prevent incidents (with and without injury), as well as participating with incident investigations.
• Assisting with the Contractor Safety Project.
• Learning the integrated safety and industrial hygiene practices and principles through the assigned facility.
• Assisting in the development and delivery of the safety and industrial hygiene program.  Learning and understanding the steel making process.
• This entry-level training position provides the student with exposure to various aspects of [Company] Safety and Industrial Hygiene department, as well as interaction with the plant operations within the corporation, providing a well-rounded basic knowledge of the safety and industrial hygiene program.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Health or a closely related field.
• Completion or working towards completion of sophomore year and be in good academic standing.
• Ability and willingness to work the schedule outlined above
• Continuation of an acceptable grade point average while participating in the program.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Computer literacy to a working skills level - proficient with Microsoft Office. products, especially Excel.
