Accounting Team Lead (12-16 Month Contract)

SMS Equipment Inc. supplies equipment parts and service to the construction, forestry and mining industries and utility product users. It was created to provide customers with integrated solutions and to expand our service capabilities as a nationwide organization.

Accounting Team Lead (12-16 Month Contract)

Reporting to the Manager, Operations Accounting, the Accounting Team Lead will be responsible for supporting the business activities and related accounting requirements for the region, in addition to key areas relating to balance sheet management. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Provides advice and guidance to accounting staff
• Analyzes and interprets financial results
• Maintenance of the company's accounting systems and processes
• Participates in the preparation and review of the annual budget
• Ensures all financial reporting including month end and year end statements are prepared timely & accurately

Qualifications

This position requires an accounting designation (eg. CGA, CMA, CA). Typically requires a minimum of 7 years progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a senior corporate role. In addition, the successful candidate should have:

• Analytical skills required to reconcile complex accounts
• Extensive knowledge of integrated financial information systems
• Ability to work in a demanding environment with strict deadlines and tight schedules
• Ability to effectively supervise both entry level and designated professional staff
• Strong oral and written communication skills
