Our client is an international mining company looking for an experienced French Speaking Supervisor to oversee all their port operations in West Africa.
The role
Reporting to the Port Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for the monitoring of maintenance and operations within the company’s Port. As such, responsibilities will include:
- Operating Port plant and equipment and assisting with the operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Coordinating marine operations and organising marine traffic
- Carrying out vessel inspections
- Providing technical and practical marine advice to the concerned contractors, marine key personnel and third parties
- Prepare daily reports for Management
- Assuming command for emergency and pollution response incidents, in the absence of, or until relieved by the Port Manager
You
In order to be considered for this position, you will demonstrate:
- 10 years of marine or port management experience
- Updated knowledge of Shipping Business and Maritime Law
- Knowledge of Risk Assessment, ISM (International Safety Management) and ISO (International Standards Organisation)
- Previous piloting experience with large vessels alongside jetties
- Knowledge of marine maintenance practices (Wharves and Jetties)
- Knowledge of relevant plant and equipment operation and maintenance
- Equipment and vehicle licences commensurate with position tasks
- Boat Operators licence
- OHS training and knowledge
- Confidence in dealing with conflict
- Good interpersonal skills
- French skills will be highly desirable
