Principal Mechanical Engineer

This client is a highly regarded engineering design and project management consultancy providing services to the mining, mineral processing and chemicals industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mechanical engineering standards, practices and procedures
• Maintain a high level of understanding of overall systems and procedures. Be the go-to person for these things.
• Ensure the implementation of the Quality System within the Mechanical Dept.
• Develop and maintain resources planning and allocation systems to ensure that project managers are adequately resourced with mechanical/piping people for their projects and the Directors are adequately aware of the need to reduce or increase personnel resources
• Assist the recruitment of new personnel by reviewing CV's, conducting interviews and making recommendations to the Directors
• Actively participate in internal induction and training programs. Develop and maintain the resources for these programs for the mechanical/piping discipline.
• Provide direction and guidance to the IT Development Group for development of IT applications to ensure they are appropriate and fit for purpose for the engineering work environment; ie act in an informed user/client representative role
• Develop and maintain ongoing client relationships
• Contribute to getting new work, either directly or by participating in marketing initiatives

The following experience/skills are required for this position

• Must have relevant mechanical tertiary qualification or equivalent
• Significant design engineering experience in a relevant industry, e.g. mining, mineral, processing, materials handling, heavy industrial and a knowledge of multi discipline engineering.
