Accounts Payable Assistant

SMS Equipment Inc. supplies equipment parts and service to the construction, forestry and mining industries and utility product users. It was created to provide customers with integrated solutions and to expand our service capabilities as a nationwide organization.

The Role:

Reporting to the Branch Administrator, this position is responsible for the daily activities within the Accounts Payable function. This position will be responsible for the following:

• Verify the accuracy of vendors invoices.
• Verify with appropriate documentation that product or service is received.
• Ensure all invoices are paid in timely fashion.
• File all invoices and documentation for easy retrieval.
• Retrieve documentation from other departments and file in temporary holding files for retrieval at a later time.
• Match documents to ensure proper documentation is in place to produce payment.
• Send original invoice to Head Office for final payment processing.
• Receptionist coverage as required.
• Other office duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 diploma.
• 1 year previous office experience preferably in a fully computerized and industrial accounting environment.
• Good/ excellent computer skills (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and internal department electronic systems) to access and update electronic records
