Maintenance Mechanic - Fixed Equipment

Job Description

• Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all equipment used in the production of cement and related products. Maximize plant availability through the use of efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs.

Required Skills

Essential Accountabilities

• Inspect plant machinery and equipment to ensure proper operating condition and identify defects
• Clean plant machinery and perform housekeeping of plant production areas
• Lubricate plant machinery using hand or air-powered equipment
• Repair and maintain plant machinery using measuring and testing equipment, hoists, hand and power tools, welding and cutting equipment and heavy mobile equipment
• Start machinery to test for operation and condition after maintenance
• Operate and inspect machinery and equipment to diagnose defects
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using hoist and hand tools
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
• Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency
• Weld and fabricate parts
• Advise the maintenance management personnel of identified operational problems
• Administer safety programs for assigned personnel
• Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
• Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred
• Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in the construction/mining/concrete industry or mechanical field preferred
• License: Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature relating to products and equipment. 
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, including reading and writing.  
• Must have ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems and work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to operate crane, forklift, loaders, and various other types of mobile equipment preferred.
