  • Fibertec Environmental Services, Inc. was established in 1987 and is a recognized leader in environmental laboratory services with NELAP and NVLAP accreditation.  Our high throughput, production laboratory assists environmental consultants, industry, public entities, and others in identifying environmental hazards in submitted samples.  We are headquartered in Holt, Michigan.  Fibertec also has offices in Brighton and Cadillac, Michigan.

Position Description

  • We are currently seeking a qualified Environmental Chemist/Lab Analyst for our laboratory located at headquarters in Holt, Michigan.  This is a salaried, exempt position.  The selected individual will work as part of a team to provide our clients with high quality analytical testing of waters, soil/sediment, solids and air.  Selected individual will follow appropriate methodologies and SOPs, interpret samples and results, document and report results in a concise and accurate manner, and perform other duties as assigned by the group leader. Tests conducted in this laboratory include: BOD, COD, TSS, TDS, TOC, Turbidity and Flash Point.  Preferred experience includes classical wet chemistry environmental testing.  This is a busy, high volume laboratory.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree, Chemistry preferred
  • Preferred experience includes working in progressively challenging laboratory roles such as: operation and equipment maintenance skills on GC; data review; knowledge of EPA methods and QA/QC
  • Lab experience with titration, colorimetric, ion chromatography, ISE and flow systems preferred
  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices, including the proper procedures in handling chemicals and unknown environmental samples
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem solving skills
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task
  • Competency with computer software including LIMS
  • Candidate must have authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
