Supervisor, Mechanical Engineering - HVAC & Piping

My client, a consulting firm based in Sudbury Ontario, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the Mechanical Engineering team and continue the success of their Sudbury office. Their organization focus’s on the heavy industrial sector in Northern Ontario, and would be the perfect opportunity for someone who likes variety in the project/design work they do, in addition to welcoming the opportunity to live outside the hustle and bustle of Southern Ontario.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise growing team of 5-10 mechanical engineers, designers and draftspeople
• Lead multi-disciplined projects
• Detail design or mechanical system
• Provide mechanical support within a team when required.
• Mentor more junior employees
• Execute smaller mechanical designs wholesale including doing design detail dwgs.
• Develop a scope of work for client
• Complete feasibility studies.
• Develop design concept to produce engineering and supply estimate
• Assist with the development of estimate for labor and equipment cost.

Requirements:

• Must currently be a registered Professional Engineer within Ontario.
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree within the field of Mechanical Engineering
• In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD or other CADD program (Solidworks, Microstation, etc.)
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in an mechanical design/engineering role, with direct experience designing HVAC and piping equipment
• Experience within the heavy industrial sector (mining, steel, power generation, pulp & paper, etc.)
• Prior supervisory position is an asset
