Senior Electrical Engineer - Automation & Controls

Position Summary:

My client, a consulting firm based in Sudbury Ontario, is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer/Designer to help continue the success of their Sudbury office. Their organization focus’s on the heavy industrial sector in Northern Ontario, and would be the perfect opportunity for someone who likes variety in the project/design work they do, in addition to welcoming the opportunity to live outside the hustle and bustle of Southern Ontario.

Responsibilities:

• Develop complete electrical design packages to the level where the package can be submitted for construction. Including but not limited to single line layout, communication and safety architecture, power distribution, controls IO, instrumentation, panel layouts, cable layouts and bill of materials
• Develop and start-up PLC and HMI programs as required for specific projects.
• Consult with customer, clients and work with in house engineering and technical staff to prepare specifications and proposals.
• Key responsibly will be to take projects from initial concept to buy off and act as a key resource during the installation of projects at customer’s facility.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree within the field of Electrical Engineering
• In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD or other CADD program (Solidworks, Microstation, etc.)
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in an electrical design/engineering role
• Experience within the heavy industrial sector (mining, steel, power generation, pulp & paper, etc.)
• P. Eng preferred
