Sales Engineer

Our client is a large engineering firm dealing with production, management, installation and maintenance of large scale electrical components for industrial, mining and electric generation industries. Currently they are looking to recruit a Sales Engineer.

Reporting to: Sales Manager/LBU Manager

Primary Functions

  • The main function/task for this position is to co-operate and work jointly with the team to create sales opportunities in the defined area. The person must be able to discuss solutions on all levels, from individual products to complex systems, including engineered solutions, service and training. He/she also need to be able to conceptualize and visualize proposed solutions. Practically set-up and demonstrate solutions in the work shop or at customer sites. The person must have knowledge of variable speed drives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adopting hands on approach towards establishing and developing excellent relationships with existing and new customers. Understand the clients thinking and requirements to be able to translate their needs into working solutions.
  • Generating a high level of customer satisfaction in all activities such as demonstrations, customer events, solutions engineering and on site commissioning etc
  • Continuously analyze the market to ensure thorough knowledge and input to the business and marketing Plan.
  • Work together with the sales manager / LBU Manager to identify and follow potential business leads from early pursuits through project execution if necessary.
  • Where required, help outside of assigned area as requested by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Qualifications: BTech degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years experience in technical sales
  • Must have a passion for improving customers’ plant processes and be able to give the best possible support to them in all aspects.
  • The candidate should demonstrate the kind of empathy that builds productive relationship with customers
  • Need to be a self-starter with ability to think/generate conceptual solution
  • Show a high level of initiative that will place him/her in the best position to meet the demands for this position
  • Be able to think analytically, well organized and systematic to solve/support customer as quickly as possible, work independently as well as in a team
