Driver - Ready Mix

Job Description

• Transports ready mix concrete products from batch plants to customer jobsites and unloads. 
• Maintains proper slump (water content) of ready mix concrete. Inspects, services, and cleans concrete mixer truck.

Job Responsibilities And Duties:

• Delivery Of Ready Mix Concrete Products: Receives instructions from Dispatcher, positions truck under batch plant in order to be loaded by Batch Plant Operator, receives written or printed delivery ticket, fills truck's water tank and checks slump of load, drives loaded truck to destination on delivery ticket, inspects jobsites upon arrival, works with customers to obtain adequate vehicle access, and unloads material. Frequently lifts, carries, and attaches onto flop chute extension chutes weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Communicates with Dispatcher include use of 2-way radio in truck and direct-line telephone in yard. Rinses chutes and rear of truck free of spilled concrete (re-hangs chutes as necessary) and returns to same yard or other yard as instructed by Dispatcher and receives new instructions.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspection and reports vehicle condition at beginning and end of each shift. Checks all vehicle fluid levels daily and adds fluids if necessary. Fuels vehicle as needed. Cleans outside of vehicle free of concrete build-up using corrosive and brushes at end of and throughout each shift. Occasionally uses chipping hammer to remove excessive concrete build-up.
• Other: Maintains Drivers Daily Reports. Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor.

Education Required:

• Class "B" commercial driver’s license. Class "A" license may be preferred or required. 
• Completion of joint Industry - Union Training Program acceptable. 
• Sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of somewhat technical nature relating to products and vehicles and to calculate time.

Experience Required:

• Experience driving concrete mixer trucks preferred.

Skills Required:

• Excellent defensive driving skills. Ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations in performance of duties. 
• Ability to clean all areas on vehicle, climb ladder to inspect loads of ready mix concrete, and hang mixer cutes. 
• Punctual in arriving for work.
