Job Description
- The inside sales representative is charged with being the “go to” person for the customer with time sensitive needs, and the coordinator and tracker for “bid work”. They are in the office and ready to serve the customer and the sales staff with accurate and timely information. This is all juggled around their in office daily duties of reports and billing.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Identifies and researches major bid projects using a variety of tools; coordinates with Professional Sales, Operations, and Technical Staff, to formulate appropriate pricing strategies. Conducts follow up procedures to determine project status; assist in development of appropriate action steps.
- Generates sales leads; responds to customer sales inquiries by phone, provides customers with product, pricing and referral information. Minimal supervisory review once parameters/pricing strategies are understood. Inside sales deals with all product lines VMC has to offer and has the desire to sell all product lines to our customers.
- Inputs daily sales pricing and prepares various management reports for Sales staff utilizing a variety of computer programs. Sets up sales orders for correct dispatching, shipment, and billing of materials.
Required Skills
- Education: High School graduation or its equivalent is required. One (1) to two (2) years of college or its equivalent is preferred.
- Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience that has included office administration, customer relations, sales, credit/collection, construction/transportation, dispatching and accounting experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of aggregate construction materials and their uses; office administration practices; corporate credit policies, procedures and laws; sales and customer relations. Skill in using computers; organizing and maintaining large quantities of information; generating and following up sales leads; preparing price quotations; communicating effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work independently; establish and maintain excellent working relationships; produce accurate reports, leads, quotes; handle multiple tasks concurrently; work well under pressure.
