Electrical Engineer - Mining (Underground and Open Pit)
Description
This organisation is a well established and reputable Australian base metals producer with a range of assets across the country. An exciting role exists for an Electrical Engineer to assume a leadership role at one of their most established mine sites in a fabulous residential location in NSW. The successful applicant will be the subject matter expert across the electrical team servicing manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components and processes.
This is a residential Monday to Friday role and the mine site is in a thriving township with a population of circa 40,000 frequently visited on the tourist trail. The town has a range of amenities including education institutes, hospitals and recreational activities making it a desirable place to live for all including families.
The position reports into the Mine Manager and is a pivotal member of the asset and maintenance management team.
Duties:
- Liaise / confer with operations personnel to ensure safe and timely execution of existing or potential electrical engineering projects
- Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and processes for mine purposes
- Operate computer based engineering and design software and equipment to perform electrical engineering tasks
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, legislation and operational requirements
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and workplace health and safety standards and legislation
- Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment
- Oversee efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily on time and within budget
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations confirm to standards, legislation and operational requirements
- Develop budgets, estimating labour and construction costs as required
To be considered for this role it is expected that you possess a Degree in Electrical Engineering with demonstrated work experience within the mining or closely associated industries. Having held a similar role in the past with the ability to develop leadership skills will be very highly regarded.
